HAVE AN AWESOME WEEKEND

While lucky Louisa jets across to the west of Norway for a 24 hour visit, including a wedding party and Mum time (Jealous much? Me? Maybe a little. Or a lot.), we are enjoying our last day with our friends from the UK here in Dubai.

The day started with our weekend staple – a big pancake breakfast, with a whole cupboards worth of toppings to choose from; bananas, honeyed pistachios, raisins, cinnamon, natural yogurt, maple syrup, a selection of jams… Do you have any weekend traditions? For us, it’s about making sure the weekend feels special – something different from our oats and muesli weekday routine.

THE WEEKEND IS HERE. AND IT FEELS GOOD.

Don’t you agree? Whether you’ve had a hectic and trying week, a calm week, or just a plain normal week, the sound of those Friday bells ringing feels pretty nice, ey?

For us the weekend signals family time. Get stuff done time. Stay in your pyjamas till late morning time. Visit friends time. Enjoy a glass of wine time.

Wind down, and recharge time.

What does the weekend mean to you? Have you got plans?

The snow is finally, finally melting, in Oslo. The butterflies are out and spring IS here. No, really, this time it really is. This week has been… challenging. To say the least. Still, Mum is flying over to see us this weekend, so we’re good.

Dubai is heating up. This week has been HOT. And they tell me this is nothing compared to how hot it will be getting… long live a fully functioning A/C system, and a long European holiday this summer.

EASTER WEEKEND

How was your week? In Dubai we’ve enjoyed spending time with friends, visiting new beaches, after- dinner bike rides and decorating the house for Easter.

In Oslo however, the Easter holiday, has not entirely gone to plan. The “40yearoldhusbandwhothinksheis20″ (favorite saying this Easter), decided to finish of a sunny day skiing with one final jump. THE jump now known as the “the rib breaking jump”. At home again, an emergency visit by Gran and Grandpa, as ski-star husband is going from bad to worse. Anyway; its Easter…

Dubai eh? Often provokes emotions and a good debate! This opinion I happen to agree with, give and take a little (an inch in one paragraph, a mile and a half further down in the text)!

Was anyone else shocked by the pace of this last week? Gone by the bat of an eyelid right?

HAVE A SPONTANEOUS WEEKEND What are your plans this weekend? Two days of non stop errands to run, friends to catch up with, parties to attend? Or perhaps a chilled one?

We love having nice things planned for the weekend, something to look forward to during the weekdays, but sometimes it’s great to just hang out. To be able to enjoy lazy pyjama mornings and long breakfasts. Catch up with your husband’s work gossip and fill him in on the latest school update. Or, just to be able to sit, quietly. That’s pretty sweet sometimes , too.

I think we sometimes get so caught in having plans all the time, we forget that just doing nothing is great, too.

It allows you to be spontaneous. Go wherever you fancy. Or not go anywhere at all.

How about you? Do you like having a plan, or keeping your diary free for impromptu, last minute adventures?

Pancakes in the morning in Oslo and Dubai. Some weekend traditions are non negotiable. Thankfully.

GLORIOUS WEEKEND AND LET’S START A COUNTDOWN

Tick tock, I think it is more than OK to start an official countdown now till the Oslo crew land in Dubai. Four days, people! That’s like.. well, less than a week. And we could not be more excited!

Too soon to make the beds up? Nah. It dawned on me that not only will they be here to celebrate a special little lady’s first birthday, but also Valentines Day. I feel a few heart shaped cookies or cakes are essential. Before then though, there’s a weekend to be enjoyed, bikes to ride, a little friends birthday to celebrate, over-indulge on weekend pancakes to, work to catch up on and a week full of memories with Greats- & Grandparents visiting to look back on and smile.
