BRAVE KNIGHTS AND DELICIOUS CANDY COATED TEA PARTIESIMG_0061

The forth chapter of our Kids Room Tour, and kicking off this years series; two little darlings have invited us into their special playroom. A room you directly associate with a delicate old fashioned candy shop:

Warm, juicy shades of bright pink, colorful lanterns, delicate patterns, combined with vintage furniture, and a rule of no cheap plastic toys, makes you gasp when you see it. As an adult visiting, I feel gripped with the urge to just skip the coffee and adult chat, and just continue to explore. As this little room is the haven of special treats, treasures and secrets.

Every colorful box stores yet another special treasure, meaning Caroline and Theodor, and all their little friends (and big : me!) can let their imagination unfold. If you’re lucky someone might invite you to join in on an epic tale of brave knights and scary dragons, or set you a challenging task of stacking colourful Barbapapa building bricks. Either way, I guarantee you’ll want to stay a while, and swap the coffee for a pretend cup of tea served in pink little cups, complete with the finest little cakes, cleverly put together in a tiny blue kitchen. While you enjoy your tea, you’ll probably be entertained by a scary dragon flying across the room with nothing less than a penguin on its back!

GIFT IDEAS

I have a fear of slugs and snail. I’m finding it difficult even writing about them. Ugh, shudder.

I once stepped on one (by accident!!) and was so grossed out by it, I had to throw my shoes away. They were good shoes, too.

But then I suddenly bumped into Sidney, while browsing around for gift ideas. And I’m thinking, maybe, there is a small chance this Donna Wilson character could help me overcome this fear.

And Oh. Wow. This is awesome.

TWO SISTERS AND A WHOLE LOAD OF ANIMALS

Second chapter of our Kids Bedroom Tour. My nieces, Isabella and Emilia have kindly invited us in for a little sneaky peak!

This time, let me take you on a little tour of The Zoo.. Ahem, sorry, I mean Isabella and Emilia’s room! Sorry, I got a little confused when I stumbled into my nieces room and tripped over the 9 rabbits, 5 tigers, 3 dogs and 14 horses, their fences, huts and stables made up of cushions and bits of rope. All scattered all over the floor.

Isabella, who tells us her ambition is to either become a farmer, or own a riding school, often invites the littler folks in our family, or her friends, to act as staff helping her take care of the many animals living here.

The room is made up of bright purples, oranges and red, of handmade cushions made by Gran, and an impressive collection of necklaces. A quote by Pippi, displayed on the wall above the girls’s bunk bed, reads “I have never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do that.” The room perfectly mirrors the personality of both these two spirited, adventurous, tree climbing, necklace wearing, mud cake making, creative little pirates, sorry, young ladies.

I am completely in LOVE with these prints! I think they are the sweetest thing around at the moment.

Little Darlings from the Animal Print Shop/ Sharon Montrose

And Lucia needs about a dozen of these pictures in her nursery, which is yet to be finished.

In fact here is a bit of juicy detail: she is still in her crib next to our bed. I hear you all gasp in shock? amazement? … don’t sweat I will return with a post which goes into even more detail on this topic in general (waiting and working for our daily following to hit a steady average of 500 pr day, then a whole load of other topics will be published. “You gotta break down your goals!”, someone very smart told us one month ago when we went public. And indeed we have! 500 guys – keep on “sharing” the luuv).

Don’t you just love these colorful owls by Anne Sofie Holm. I sure do, and I must remember to remind myself to order one of these prints after the summer holiday.

Oh, and set time for the family to define our “in this house we do”.
eat chocolate everyday” & “never go to bed before midnight” I hear small people suggesting… Maybe I should just get this wall print after all and save the panel debate? Naaaa, too easy. Bring it on!

Hope you are enjoying the summer – its as good as it gets!

COFFEE TABLE CALL
Yesterday I spontaneously sold our coffee table. Okay so this is a slight exaggeration, as our 10 year old table (from Michaels ‘sans moi’ era) had been up for sale for 3 weeks now. However, we have yet to decide which one to replace it with.

This selection of coffee tables I like a lot. Not all compatible with our bank account, but you get the sense of style we are going for right? A round, simple, minimalist, no fuss table.

1. Flower/ Swedese 2. Droplet/ OFFECCT 3. Bella/ Hay 4. Tabloo/ Normann Copenhagen 5. Around/ Muuto 6. Tulip/ Saarinen

What do you think? Which one gets your vote? I find this tricky. Very tricky indeed.

Today I travelled to Stockholm and back in 7 hours. Missed all my babies terribly, but guess who I missed the most?

This one. It was my first business trip since she was born (almost a year ago!).
However, I really enjoy the buzz of my work, and the odd trip abroad is somehow quite refreshing, even for only 7 hours. Got up at 5.45 this morning though, so now I feel quite the opposite of refreshed. And with that said, a goodnight to you all ZZzzzzzZz

OUR HOUSE MANTRA

Found this cool wallsticker here
Although I’d rather want this as a print in a frame, as I already have the perfect wall for this.

————————————————————–

Today was one of those really hot days where you really want to moan about the temperature, but don’t, as we are expected to ENJOY the start of the summer and the first heat wave, as we never really know how long it is going to last. At least not in Norway. And so we did just that. Enjoyed it. At a nearby lake. And I was even cool and relaxed about the fact that we couldn’t find our beach blanket, sunscreen was out of date, buckets and spades were semi broken, and the girls claimed their swimsuits (which I bought like yesterday) were too small. But hey, we sat on a duvet cover, sprayed on “old” factor 50, dug sand castles with a spoon and paddled in the 2011 swimgear, no biggie. Now, roll on summer 2012! But, please go easy on the heat wave stuff Mr Weatherman, as my girls are still up and its 9.30pm….zzz.

YELLOW SUBMARINE

“Yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors and instill optimism and energy as well as spark creative thoughts”.

Maybe this is why my new favorite color is yellow? I don´t have all that much yellow interior in the house at the moment, but I wish I did, and I feel really inspired and creative (!) by just looking at Isabella´s cool yellow Hunter boots. This must be a sign. I must include yellow more in my life this summer! Happy Yellow Monday xoxo

Yellow Jielde lamp wishes she lived in my house this summer….

“How wonderful yellow is. It stands for the sun.” –Vincent Van Gogh

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

However, sister Lucia, did not feel my yellow groove today… Too cute anyway, even when she is feeling mellow (yellow..).
