AFTERNOONS ON THE BEACH
I know, I know, it’s no longer May, but I’m sitting here in our kitchen, looking out into the sunny garden, and dreaming of days when it wasn’t too hot to enjoy the outdoors. Stepping out of the car today, at school pick up time, felt like stepping into a hot sauna. It probably takes no more than a minute to walk from the car, over to Finley’s classroom door, but I was drenched.
So, I’m looking at these photos, and thinking the beginning of May was pretty nice.
We managed to squeeze in a few beautiful afternoons on the beach in May, before the weather turned and it got too hot. With all the hustle and bustle and skyscrapers and noise and never-ending way into the late night business of Dubai, it’s so nice to escape it for a few hours, and sit on a quiet beach. Sure, there are plenty of other beach goers there, too, and you’re never too far from the nearest shopping mall, but there’s something so peaceful and relaxing, and necessary, about sitting on a sandy beach, gentle waves rolling in across shallow water, and a beautiful sun setting over The Palm.
I know I ramble on a bit about the beach, and I probably share way too many photos, but it’s our favourite spot in Dubai, and well, you know, it’s just cool and awesome a simple.
It’s where we meet up with friends for weekend picnics, arrange mid week playdates, go for refreshing (in the cooler months, at least) early morning walks, and test out new birthday remote control vehicles.
