CLAP ALONG IF YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPINESS IS TO YOU

It might seem crazy what I’m about to say, but I’ve had a long break from being in a routine as far as health and fitness is concerned. Exercising has taken a backseat, as it doesn’t come easy to me, it’s not something I bounce out of bed in the morning and jump right into, without hesitation and without a little oh, maybe I ought to do this instead and maybe I’ll wait till tomorrow. When the sun goes down at night, and I’ve tucked my two little bundles of endless energy into bed, I’m done. I’m done, I’m finished. I cannot even start to think about going for a run at this time, because, like I said; I’m done. Plus, I’m super scared of the dark, so there’s just no way.

Early morning is “my window”. Even if it means I have to kick myself several times, and battle my own will and fight down all those millions of excuses of better things to do, like a quiet coffee by myself, because I really did not sleep well last night, and could really do with some alone time, and I could write lists of all the other millions of jobs I need to do, and wouldn’t it be much better if I did that, than go for a run?

DSC_0156But. No more excuses. Find the time. Do it. Battle it out in your head, and take charge of your body this year, Camilla. Yeah! Come on! Do it.

I don’t know where all that just came from, it doesn’t sound like me at all. I think I got carried away, which can only be a good thing, so let’s just go with it.

This week; Running, power walks in the rain (no, seriously, yeah! Rain! In Dubai! yeah!) and back to Pilates. And it feels GOOD. It’s only the start of 2014, and my only resolution this year was to NOT make resolutions, yet the beginning of the year seems like a good time to start afresh, and get into good routines. I bought a strap for my arm, so I can carry my phone with me and jog along to music. Running to music is new to me guys, but it is so cool. So cool and so much fun. I am probably the last person to discover the joy of an arm belt strap that carries your music device, but it helps loads. I do have to be a little careful though, and concentrate on the road ahead, rather than closing my eyes and flapping my arms wildly above my head as I sing out loud and shake my hips.

Chill! I did totally not do that.

clap alongPilates was hard. Good hard. But still, hard. As the class was about to finish, our instructor asked if we’d heard the song with the lyrics “Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof”? It’s only one of THE most motivational songs ever, and has the power to make you get up and dance and clap along and be happy, can’t nothing bring me down, and this was exactly how she wanted us all to feel after the class. It worked.

Like I said, no resolutions. Yet, clap along, and it can only get easier, surely? Surely?

Are you planning a run, or going to your favourite exercise class? Also, I dare you to go for a run and listen to this song, and try not dance along the path. Don’t pretend you didn’t! I saw those hands of yours waving and shimmying and clapping to the beat!

Thanks for all the tips on how to enjoy those beetroots we bought at the market last weekend! Really appreciated it, and am happy to say we made good use of our fruit&veg market finds. Our favourites were roasted beets, with a little feta cheese, and this awesome metabolism boosting juice recipe my friend sent me: 2 green apples, 1 cucumber, 1 beetroot, 1/4 lemon, 1/2 inch ginger, ice.
