WHAT ARE WE READING THIS WEEK?

MOG THE FORGETFUL CAT BY JUDITH KERR

Every now and then I’d love to share with you one of my huge loves… Children’s Books. They speak to me, oh yes they do. The characters, the colours, the pen lines, the rhymes, the details and the media… It’s what inspired me to study Illustration. And some of them are just too good to keep to myself!).

Oh, Mog.

Did you enjoy Judith Kerr’s books about Mog the cat as a child? This is a FUN book where dear old Mog often feels sorry for herself, forgetting about her cat flap and that she’s already had her supper. The phrase “Bother that cat!” is repeated several times, and I just can’t help it… This cat’s hilarious!!

Having grown up in a cat family*, I love how Mog’s personality is captured through the words and illustrations in this book. It’s a classic, one worth keeping for your kids, grand kids AND great grandkids.

*Cat Family – let me clarify. Growing up we had cats as pets. I was not raised by cats.

I used to love reading this book! Still do! I recently read a grown up cat book which I really enjoyed and would recommend if you like me are fond of or ammused by cats! It’s called A Street Cat Named Bob by James Bowan

    • Judith Kerr created such a classic, loveable character, I think Mog will continue to stay around for a long, long time. :)
