WRAPPING UP 2012 – OUR FAVORITE POSTS
WHAT. A. YEAR.
Looking back at our posts and photos from 2012, it’s clear to us it’s been a good’un. Sure, we have faced challenges. Some of them we chose to share with you on our blog, some of them we chose to keep to ourselves. But for the most part? It’s been good, hasn’t it?
A lot of time was spent together, sisters and cousins bonding, planning and hanging out.
We tried a few new things through the year, and raised some topics we feel passionate about – sometimes just for fun, but mostly as a way of learning, growing and raising awareness. And although it’s tricky choosing, a few of our favourites from 2012 include:
KIDS ACTIVITIES: Remember how it rained all summer long? Well it’ll probably be the same next summer too, but fret not, here are a few ideas that work come rain or shine, just turn it Inside Out. And if your kids are worrying about bed bugs, why not turn them into something a little friendlier, too? And not to forget our series of well illustrated and written children’s books!
YOGA: Waaay back at the very start of our blogging journey, Camilla showed off about going for a run. The run. The one run that took place in 2012. Yoga proved to be far more enlightening, and the start of a yoga journey like no other was begun. Wow.
THE SEASON OF GOOD CHEER! OR NOT? At Christmas many of us enjoy a good old seasonal cheer, or two (or more?), but have you ever considered how much might feel like too much in your children’s eyes?
SUNDAY SOUP CHALLENGE: August and rain lured us into food styling. And our food posts progressed from there, The Soup Challenge being the most popular feature. It’s hard to choose a favourite, but Sweet Chorizo Sausage and Tom Kha Gai come high up on the yum scale. And every Autumn season should be cheered on by a traditional Butternut squash soup, right?
TANTRUMS, CARPET BUGS AND NOISY NEIGHBOURS: We lived through (barely) a few Royal Tantrums, boogied our nights away on bug infested (!!) carpets, and came close to being chucked off the island of Majorca. Slightly exaggerated? As if we would..
BREASTFEEDING: It was inspiring and very engaging reading your comments after our post on Breastfeeding in Public. Brave Mamma’s out there, we salute you.
KIDS BEDROOM TOURS: Loved taking the photos and inviting you on a few little tours of Kids Bedrooms, and are excited about sharing some more in 2013. There are so many sweet, funky, cool and creative homes – it’s inspiring to have a little insight into a few of them.
OWNING YOUR OWN STRESS AGENDA: In an attempt to live a more balanced life, Lou shared tips on how to Own Your Own Stress Agenda, make French Salad Dressings and Bake Homemade Bread in The Woods. Yum.
Do you take the time to reflect a little as one year comes to an end, and a new one approaches? What are your top 10 things from the past year?
We love spending time sourcing thoughtful and inspiring quotes and words, using them with our own photography and designing illustrations that we share on our blog. So whatever kind of year you’ve had, here’s to YOU and the New Year Ahead. Takk for det gamla! (Norwegian New Years Eve saying “Thanks for the old”)
And as an added little treat; wise as always, some end of year thoughts from Randi Zinn.
